Already Taking a Prep Course?

Students often ask us if using The Scholar Review is useful if they are already taking a MCAT classroom prep-course. Unfortunately, there is no way to give a general answer to this question because every situation and student is different. The best way to answer this question yourself is to consider the following questions:

  1. Are you attending all of your lectures with your current test-prep company?
  2. Are you satisfied with the quality of instruction given by all of your instructors?
  3. Do you feel confident in all the science topics covered by the MCAT?
  4. Do you feel completely caught up with all of your MCAT science review?
  5. Have you scored at least a 30 on your third practice exam?

If you answered NO to any of these questions then using The Scholar Review may help your situation. Anyone who has taken the MCAT will tell you that the key to doing well is by doing many, many practice problems. However, you need to have a solid grasp of the material in order to achieve the results you are looking for. There is no point in doing Fluid problems if you don’t understand buoyancy. So maximize your time by reviewing all of the material for a couple of weeks before you start doing problems, then as you do problems, go back to the lectures on the topics that are giving you the hardest time.

Because The Scholar Review is offered at a low cost, many of our students do use the videos in conjunction with their classroom prep-courses. Most students have felt that having the same material taught by two different instructors really helped them to get a more in depth understanding of the concepts. After every MCAT we receive numerous e-mails from students commenting on how effective our strategies were for them while sitting for the real exam. Please note that your performance on the MCAT will depend on how much time you put in. The Scholar Review has been designed to be used as a stand-alone MCAT preparation course; however, it can serve as a useful supplement to an already established study regime.
